Tomoyuki Izumi

Founder and Portfolio Manager

Tomo Izumi is a native Japanese. He founded VIS Advisors and Takumi Capital Management in 2014. He started his value investment career at Equinox Partners in NY in 2008. He initially covered solely Japanese market and then expanded his coverage to other north Asian countries including China, Korea and Taiwan.

Prior to joining Equinox Partners, he has over nine years of management consulting experience at Accenture and Roland Berger in Tokyo. In his later years at his consulting career, he specialized in growth strategy and M&A strategy.

Mr. Izumi holds a BA in Business from Hitotsubashi University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Ryosuke Momose

Head of Research

Ryosuke Momose joined our team as Head of Research in July 2018. Prior to joining Takumi Capital, Mr. Momose spent thirteen years as a management consultant at Accenture in Tokyo where Mr. Izumi and Mr. Momose worked together between 2005 and 2006. Throughout his consulting experience, Mr. Momose has led over 20 projects for clients in Retail, Consumer Goods, Electronics and Communications industries for marketing strategy, global business expansion and M&A strategy.

Mr. Momose holds a Bachelor of Laws from Tokyo University.

Johann Wolf

Chief Operating Officer

Johann Wolf joined Takumi Capital in September 2014. Prior to joining Takumi Capital, he was Head of Fund Administration for Ramius Alternative Solutions LLC, a Cowen Group Company. During his five years at Cowen in New York, he integrated the previously European based back office into its New York operations. Further he managed the evolution of a traditional Fund of Funds accounting and administration to a multi-billion dollar Hedge Fund business. Before relocating to New York in 2009, Mr. Wolf headed accounting and operations for Ramius GMBH in Austria. Mr. Wolf started at HVB Alternative Investments AG, Member of Unicredit Group as Controller/Vice President in 2001.

Mr. Wolf holds a Bachelor of Science, with a dual major in Finance and Accounting, from FHWien University of Applied Sciences in Austria.

Etsuko Watai

General Manager of Administration

Etsuko Watai joined Takumi Capital as General Manager of Administration in September 2022. Before joining Takumi Capital, she gained experience in back-office operations, including human resources and general administration at several consumer goods manufacturers and service providers. In her current role at Takumi Capital, she is responsible for all back-office operations in the Japan office as well as supporting research and data analysis.

Ms. Watai holds a BA in Literature from Aoyama Gakuin University.
